Twins rookie RHP Fox to start vs. Texas

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—The Minnesota Twins have picked rookie right-hander Matt Foxto pitch Friday’s series opener against Texas.

Fox’s contract was selected from Triple-A Rochester before the game and hewill start in place of Nick Blackburn(notes). Right-handers Rob Delaney and AlexBurnett(notes) were also recalled from Rochester.

The Twins used eight pitchers, including three starters, in a 10-9 loss tothe Detroit Tigers that lasted 13 innings Thursday night. Blackburn’s next turnhas been pushed back to Sunday. Fox will make his major league debut. He’s 6-9with a 3.95 ERA in 123 innings for Rochester, with 21 starts and 14 reliefappearances.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Fox, first baseman Justin Morneau(notes) wastransferred to the 60-day disabled list.
