Tejada batting cleanup in Padres debut

SAN DIEGO (AP)—Miguel Tejada(notes) is back at shortstop and batting cleanup in hisdebut with the San Diego Padres.
Manager Bud Black wasted no time in plugging Tejada into a key spot in thelineup for the first-place Padres against the Florida Marlins on Friday night.Tejada was acquired from the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday.
Tejada says he’s happy to be back at shortstop, his natural position. The36-year-old played shortstop his entire career until this year, when he playedthird base with the Orioles.
The former AL MVP says it was great to wake up in first place. He went fromthe worst team in the majors to one that leads the NL West by 3 1/2 games over SanFrancisco.
