Indians’ Carmona to start against Tigers

CLEVELAND (AP)—Fausto Carmona(notes) is back pitching for the Cleveland Indians.
Sent to the lower minor leagues earlier this season to work on hismechanics, Carmona, a 19-game winner in 2007, was recalled from Triple-AColumbus to start Friday’s series opener against the first-place Detroit Tigers.
The Indians also brought up outfielder Trevor Crowe(notes).
Carmona was optioned to the Arizona rookie league on June 5 and made sevenstarts at Cleveland’s three minor-league levels. He went a combined 3-3 with a2.73 ERA.
The Indians, who earlier this week dealt ace Cliff Lee(notes) to Philadelphia, arecounting on Carmona to get back to where he was two seasons ago.
