Eli Manning led another fourth-quarter touchdown drive and won his secondSuper Bowl MVP on Sunday night, leading the Giants to a 21-17 victory thatprovided a pulsating finish to an NFL season that started with turmoil and alockout.

“It’s been a wild game,” said Manning, who now has one more Super Bowltitle than his older brother. “It’s been a wild season,”

A wild finish was certainly fitting.

The Giants (13-7) almost didn’t make the playoffs, needing a lot of help at7-7 with two games left. Their defense finally came together, and Manning gavethem a chance in every game with his penchant for comebacks—a league-record 15touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Of course, his greatest career comeback was in that Super Bowl four yearsago, when the Patriots were undefeated and Manning led a late scoring drive thatincluded an enduring Super Bowl moment—the incredible catch David Tyree madeby trapping the ball against his helmet.

The Patriots (15-4) had a chance to avoid more such history on Sunday.Brady, trying to match boyhood hero Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw with fourSuper Bowl titles, had New England in range to put it away late in the fourthquarter.

Wes Welker dropped a pass at the 20-yard line with 4 minutes left, forcing apunt that gave the Giants another chance trailing 17-15.

“It comes to the biggest moment of my life, and (I) don’t come up withit,” said a red-eyed Welker. “It’s one of those plays I’ve made a thousandtimes.”

Manning’s turn for more Super Bowl magic.

He threw a spot-on 38-yard pass down the sideline to Mario Manningham, fitting the ball perfectly between two defensive backs barreling down on thereceiver. Manningham got both feet down before getting smacked out of bounds infront of the Patriots’ bench, a catch that was upheld on replay and reminded the68,658 fans at Lucas Oil Stadium—one in particular—about that other catchfour years earlier.

“In those situations, you are always looking to see who is going to be theguy,” Tyree said, in the Giants locker room.

Once Manningham came down with it, the Giants sensed things had turned theirway, just like four years earlier.

“I think they are both spectacular catches,” Giants coach Tom Coughlinsaid. “I think with Mario’s earlier tonight, the way he kept his feet inboundsand held onto the ball (while) going out of bounds was a remarkable thing.”

The Patriots were thinking the same thing, too.

“I thought that play they made on our sideline was a phenomenal throw andcatch,” Brady said. “That got them going.”

They got down to the 6-yard line with just over a minute left and thePatriots down to one timeout. New York could have run the clock down to a fewseconds and kicked a field goal.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick did the math and decided on a trade-off: Giveup a touchdown for some time. New England pulled up and allowed Ahmad Bradshawto run the final 6 yards with 57 seconds left.

Once Bradshaw realized what was happening, he tried to stop at the 1-yardline to keep the clock going but ended up falling backward into the end zone.

Brady would get one last chance with the Giants defense bearing down on him,as it always does. Defensive end Justin Tuck huddled the New York defense aftera touchback on the kickoff left the ball at the 20-yard line.

“I think a lot of guys had their eyes lit up,” Tuck said. “This is whatwe’ve been working for all year, and we’ve got 57 seconds left to be worldchamps.”

Brady set a Super Bowl record by completing 16 consecutive passes earlier inthe game, topping Montana’s record. When he needed several quick completions toget moving in the last minute, he couldn’t do it.

The Patriots got only as far as midfield with 5 seconds left. Brady threw adesperation pass into the end zone, where the ball was batted around in a scrumbefore falling incomplete just beyond the reach of All-Pro tight end RobGronkowski, bringing the spray of confetti from above.

“You come down to one play at the end,” Brady said. “If we make it, we’reworld champs. If we don’t, we’re wishing we were.”

Brady’s had a tough time against this Giants defense. During the regularseason, it pressured him into mistakes during a 24-20 New York win inFoxborough, Mass. The Patriots went on to win their next 10, a streak that endedwhen Brady faced that same defense on Sunday.

It just seems to have his number. On his first pass of the game, Brady waspressured by Tuck in the end zone and threw the ball to an open spot downfieldto get rid of it, resulting in a safety.

By contrast, Manning didn’t make any big mistakes and, again, was at hisbest under the last-minute pressure.

“He’s become confident over time, kind of grew into it,” said his father, former New Orleans Saints quarterback Archie Manning. “I always felt like youhave to experience those situations before you become confident. He’s certainlyhad his share.”

And nobody will question anything he says again.

Manning was criticized for insisting before the season that he’s an elitequarterback. Then, with the Giants struggling, he was overshadowed by adifferent Manning drama.

Peyton and the Colts were hoping to reach a Super Bowl in their stadium.Instead, the quarterback had neck operations and the team came apart, promptingownership to clean house. The week leading up to the Super Bowl was overshadowedin town by talk about Peyton’s future.

Eli insisted he wasn’t bothered by sharing the spotlight. In the fourthquarter on Sunday, he had it all to himself.

Manning was 10 of 14 for 118 yards in the final quarter with his seventhgame-winning drive of the season. Overall, he completed 30 of 40 for 296 yardswith a touchdown and no interceptions, leading the Giants to their fourth SuperBowl championship—two behind Pittsburgh for the record.

In the end, a Manning got to hoist the silver Super Bowl trophy inIndianapolis.

“It just feels good to win a Super Bowl,” Eli said. “Doesn’t matter whereyou are.”

Reggie Johnson—all 6-foot-10 and 284 pounds of him—scored five of hiscareer-high 27 points in overtime of Miami’s 78-74 upset of No. 7 Duke onSunday.

Johnson added a season-high 12 rebounds and was a handful all game for theBlue Devils to deal with. Miami outrebounded them 48-43 and outscored them 38-26in the paint.

“I feel I had the hot hand the whole game,” Johnson said, adding thatfirst-year coach Jim Larranaga “was trying to ride me a whole lot. My teammatesfound me in good positions—catch and score.”

Kenny Kadji added 15 points for the Hurricanes (14-7, 5-3 Atlantic CoastConference), who blew a 16-point lead in the second half, then regrouped toclaim their first big victory for their new coach.

“To come in here and play with the kind of poise we did, play the kind ofdefense we did—especially in the first half and in the overtime—wassomething that we can be very, very proud of,” Larranaga said.

That poise gave Miami its first victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium and justits second win over Duke since joining the ACC. The Hurricanes are on theirfirst four-game winning streak since 2008 and have won three consecutive ACCroad games for the first time.

Seth Curry scored 22 points and freshman Austin Rivers added 20 for the BlueDevils (19-4, 6-2), who appeared listless while falling into that deep deficitbefore waking up with about 16 minutes left.

Then, they missed all six of their free throws in overtime and wound upbeing beaten at home by a Florida-based conference rival for the second timethis season.

“A Duke team should play with energy for 40 minutes, or 45,” coach MikeKrzyzewski said. “Go outside right now and you look at the banners—there arequite a few of them up there. They were not won without energy, without hunger, with no complacency, with people really wanting it.

“And we’ve wanted it a lot, and we’ve won a lot. We’re supposed to playhard and with energy all the time. Those are givens. Those should be givens.”

Mason Plumlee added 13 rebounds for Duke, which had its 45-game home winningstreak snapped two weeks ago by No. 21 Florida State. The Blue Devils have losttwo of three at Cameron and have dropped multiple home games for the first timesince going 15-4 there in 2006-07.

“The biggest emphasis for us was to protect our home court,” guard QuinnCook said. “We’ve got to get better.”

Still, the Blue Devils had plenty of chances in the extra session. Theytrailed 75-74 with Cook on the line, but he missed two free throws with 27.2seconds left.

After Johnson missed two foul shots with 26.2 seconds left to give Dukeanother shot, Cook missed badly on a running jumper with about 15 seconds left.DeQuan Jones extended Miami’s lead to 77-74 with two foul shots with 12.9seconds left.

Freshman Austin Rivers and Duke rallied in the second half but lost in overtime.(US Presswire)

Rivers and Ryan Kelly missed 3s in the final seconds and Johnson added afree throw with one-tenth of a second remaining to silence the subdued arena.

Johnson, a native of Winston-Salem, surpassed the 25 points he scored lastseason against Wake Forest.

“It’s big—my friends, my family were here,” Johnson said. “Growing uphere, I know about Duke. I know about North Carolina. I know about N.C. State. So to come in here and get a win against Duke is real big-time.”

He scored the Hurricanes’ first four points in overtime before MalcolmGrant’s open-court layup put Miami up 75-69 with 2:10 left.

Durand Scott added 11 points on 3-of-12 shooting for the Hurricanes, who hada chance to win it in regulation.

Rivers tied it at 69 with one of two free throws with 21.5 seconds left.Miami had the ball last, but Johnson passed out of a double-team in the post toScott, who couldn’t get a shot off before the buzzer.

Miami forced 14 turnovers and was cruising before going cold midway throughthe second half, managing only one field goal during the critical stretch thatcoincided with Duke’s rally.

Miami went up by 16 points three times, the last on Kadji’s open 3-pointerfrom the key that made it 53-37 with 14 1/2 minutes left. But a putback by Johnsonwas the Hurricanes’ only field goal for quite over the next 8 1/2 minutes.

Duke, which missed 15 of 18 shots during the stretch that put it in such ahuge hole, got equally hot during the 16-2 run led by Curry that put the BlueDevils right back in it.

“For 24 minutes, I just think we were not very good at all,” Krzyzewskisaid. “We had no energy and they did. … Then in the last 16 minutes ofregulation, I thought we played extremely well and gave ourselves an opportunityto win.”

SEATTLE (AP)—The city of Seattle has been working behind the scenes thepast eight months with a hedge-fund manager to bring an NBA team back to town—possibly as early as next fall if the Sacramento Kings fail to get asatisfactory deal for a new arena, newly released documents show.

The city turned over the documents to The Seattle Times on Friday under apublic records request (http://is.gd/PyQ06N ). The documents included the agendafor a meeting between the parties on Dec. 13, with topics including “Review ofBasic Deal Structure,” “City Debt Capacity” and “Financing Issues.”

A Seattle native who now lives in San Francisco, 44-year-old hedge-fundmanager Christopher Hansen, approached the city about his desire to buy an NBAteam and build an arena south of Safeco Field, the documents show. Hansen toldcity officials an arena could be built with minimal impact on taxpayers.

“I really appreciate it and look forward to making this happen in Seattle.I genuinely mean that and am confident that with a little effort and creativitywe can find a solution that meets our needs and the City’s/State’s desire to geta team back to Seattle without a large public outlay,” Hansen wrote in a June16 email to Julie McCoy, chief of staff to Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, and EthanRaup, the mayor’s director of policy and operations.

Seattle hasn’t had an NBA team since 2008, when owner Clay Bennett moved theSonics to Oklahoma City and renamed them the Thunder.

Hansen, who heads Valiant Capital Management LLC, offered to provideinformation on recent arena deals that have been put together.

The Dec. 13 meeting was attended by McCoy and Raup and set up by Carl Hirsh,a New Jersey arena consultant hired by the city in July. The agenda alsoincluded discussion of KeyArena, where the Sonics played, and which could beused as a temporary home for a new team with the permission of the NBA. Theleague considered it an unsuitable even before the Sonics departed.

The documents don’t mention how Seattle would obtain a team, but the Timesreported that they show the city has been following developments in Sacramento, which is under a March 1 deadline to come up with a proposal to build an arenafor the Kings.

In addition, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has expressed interest in placinga team in Seattle, leading to speculation the financially struggling PhoenixCoyotes could move to the city and possibly share an arena with a basketballteam.

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn said Saturday he is taking the proposal seriously, but doesn’t want the city left “holding the bag.”

“It’s a pretty substantial commitment that would have to be made by theinvestors,” McGinn said, emphasizing that the city budget can’t be tapped tofund an arena.

He added that any offer also must honor the will of Seattle voters, who in2006 overwhelmingly approved an initiative that says the city must make a profiton any investment it makes in a sports arena.

Fantasy Basketball 11 registration is open. Sign up today! And follow Yahoo! Sports NBA coverage on Twitter.

MIAMI (AP)—LeBron James took a hard foul and clearly was not happy. So thenext time he saw the ball, he made sure no Toronto player could reach him.

James’ steal and dunk with just more than two minutes left gave Miami somebreathing room, and the Heat held on to defeat the Toronto Raptors 95-89 onSunday. James finished with 30 points and Dwyane Wade added 25 for the Heat(18-6), who won for the 10th time in its last 12 games and moved within one gameof Chicago (20-6) for the best record in the Eastern Conference.

“We stuck with our principles,” James said. “And that’s to defend.”

Toronto Raptors head coach Dwa… AP – Feb 5, 4:16 pm EST Miami Heat head coach Erik Spo… AP – Feb 5, 4:02 pm EST Toronto Raptors ' DeMar De… AP – Feb 5, 2:44 pm EST 1 of 3 Tor-Mia Gallery

Chris Bosh scored 12 points against his former team, which saw a 15-pointedge trimmed to three in the final minutes but never surrendered the lead. MarioChalmers added 11 for Miami.

DeMar DeRozan scored 25 for the Raptors, who got 17 apiece from JerrydBayless and Linas Kleiza.

“I liked our disposition,” Raptors coach Dwane Casey said. “I liked theway we approached it. I liked the way we competed.”

Kleiza’s 3-pointer with just under five minutes left got Toronto withineight, and another 3 from Bayless as the shot clock expired on the next Raptors’possession cut the Miami lead to 85-80—the closest the game had been sinceearly in the third quarter.

Bayless scored again to get the Raptors within three and cap a 12-0 Torontorun. And after Bosh missed a fadeaway from the right baseline, Bayless tried a3-pointer to tie. It bounced off, and with the game in the balance, James wentto work.

He was fouled by James Johnson and made two free throws with 2:20 left, notbefore letting anyone around him know he wasn’t pleased with the physicality ofthe play. The next time James touched the ball, he didn’t give the Raptors achance to foul him—his steal and two-handed slam with 2:07 left gave Miami an89-82 edge and all but ensured the win.

“Good back-to-back plays for our team and I was happy I was able to makethem,” James said.

James—who leads the NBA in first-quarter scoring this season (9.1 points agame)—got off to another big start, making his first five shots and scoring 12points in the opening quarter. He’s now shooting just under 60 percent in firstquarters this season.

While scoring wasn’t an issue, the Heat were far from in the clear.

Casey told the Raptors that establishing pace and limiting turnovers—especially early—would be big keys. Seemed like his team got the message: TheRaptors matched a season-high with 27 points in the first quarter, and turnedthe ball over only five times in the first half. That, combined with DeRozantying his season best with 16 points in the opening two quarters, kept theRaptors close.

“It just shows that we can compete with anybody,” DeRozan said.

Miami’s lead was only 53-48 at the break, and that was even after James andWade combined to score 22 points in the opening quarter on 8 for 9 shooting.

“We knew it was going to be one of those grind-out kind of games,” Wadesaid. “We understand that a lot of teams do that when they play the Heat—comeout on fire.”

In the third quarter, the Heat finally took control—not surprisingly, whenthe defense picked up a notch.

Toronto missed all but one of its shots over a seven-minute stretch of thethird, a span where Miami started with a 55-54 lead and increased it 73-57.Chalmers hit back-to-back 3-pointers late in the 18-3 run, James made a fadeawaywith 3:27 to play in the period to close the flurry.

“Our energy was good,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “Even throughoutthe game, I didn’t have a problem with the energy. … It was more of a realconcentration and a discipline toward the end of the (shot) clock. And that’ssomething we’ll have to continue to get better at.”

And, just as Casey feared, turnovers proved decisive. Toronto committedeight in the third, which Miami turned into nine points. Miami gave the ballaway only twice in the third, and the Raptors didn’t score on either.

“Next time we’ve got to come out and make the plays and close,” Baylesssaid.

Notes: It was the second straight year Miami played at home on Super BowlSunday. The Heat beat the Clippers last year in a game that started at noon andwith James half-seriously asking officials to speed things along. … Miami hasbeaten the Raptors six straight times. … It was Raptors C Jamaal Magloire’sfirst time visiting Miami as an opponent since March 2008. The Toronto nativehad spent the past three seasons with the Heat and remains close to severalformer teammates. “He was about as pure as anybody we have ever had as a roleplayer,” Spoelstra said.

Villanova, losers of three straight, couldn’t get any closer.

Woodall then snared a long pass and made the layup while Ty Johnson wascalled for an intentional foul. Woodall hit both free throws to seal the game.

Maalik Wayns led Villanova with 18 points, with Dominic Cheek adding 13 andMouphtaou Yarou 12. Dante Taylor added nine points for Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh, which has used improved shooting to win its previous threegames, struggled at the outset.

The Panthers made just one of their first eight shots—a game-opening3-pointer by Lamar Patterson—and trailed 21-16 with 7:19 left in the firsthalf. But Pitt would recover from that early slump to hit 12 of its next 15shots and sprint away on a 22-2 run.

Both Gibbs and Woodall drilled a pair of 3’s during the run, and when Taylorwas fouled on a dunk and made the ensuing free throw, the Panthers took a 38-23lead. Pitt took a 40-28 halftime lead into the locker room despite committingnine turnovers and allowing the Wildcats to pull down 10 offensive rebounds.

Villanova, which missed its first six shots of the game, couldn’t match thePanthers’ hot shooting. The Wildcats shot just 30.3 percent in the first half(10 of 33), including 25 percent from 3-point range (2 of 8). Wayns, the team’stop scorer, made just 3 of 10 first-half shots.

After shooting 53.8 percent in the first half (14 of 26), the Panthersstruggled in the second, shooting just 32 percent (8 of 25). But Pitt hit 27 of31 free throws for the game, compared to 18 of 23 for Villanova.

The Spartans (18-5, 7-3 Big Ten) moved into sole possession of second placein the conference behind third-ranked Ohio State.

“It was more about the rivalry than it was the Big Ten,” Michigan Statecoach Tom Izzo said.

For Green, it was really personal.

He hadn’t played particularly well in the past against the Wolverines andthis was the last scheduled shot for the Saginaw native to beat a team heacknowledges hating.

“I don’t care where you’re from, it never means as much as it does for theplayers in state and that’s one of the reasons I believe in recruiting in-stateguys,” Izzo said. “Draymond didn’t want to go out losing four in a row.”

Green was the center of attention before the game, promising to play afterspraining his left knee in a loss Tuesday night at Illinois and saying onlydeath could have kept him off the court.

“It wasn’t hurting,” he said. “I felt great.”

The do-it-all forward vowed Michigan State would win Sunday’s game after hisfloating 10-footer and tip-in attempt in the final seconds of last month’ssetback in Ann Arbor. Michigan had won three straight times in the rivalry forthe first time since winning five in a row from 1996 to 1998.

“The world is back into place,” Green said.

Green, whose previous high against Michigan was 10 points, made a fadeawayjumper and left-handed layup to restore 10-point leads on ensuing possessionsafter the Wolverines cut their deficit to single digits midway through thesecond half.

He soared for a defensive rebound in the final minute for his 16th reboundand became just the fourth Big Ten player to at least equal his opponent’s totalin a conference game since the 1996-97 season, according to STATS, LLC.

“He’s got a great spirit and he had a great game,” Wolverines coach JohnBeilein said. “He’s always been a tough matchup for us, but he played his besttoday.”

Michigan’s best players, meanwhile, played poorly.

Tim Hardaway Jr. missed his first six shots and had a season-low four pointson 1-for-10 shooting. Teammate Trey Burke had made only one shot before his3-pointer just before halftime pulled the Wolverines within eight points. Burkefinished 4 of 11 and scored 11 points.

“What we did was shut down Burke’s penetration and that’s how Hardaway getshis shots,” Izzo said.

The Spartans took control with a 17-7 run early in the first half and pulledaway with eight straight points to take a 57-40 lead with just under 3 minutesleft after Brandon Wood tracked down an offensive rebound and made a 3-pointer.

Michigan State outrebounded the Wolverines 40-16, including getting ninemore on the offensive glass.

“They only missed 22 shots and they ended up getting 12 of those back—andthat’s not good,” Beilein said.

Keith Appling and Branden Dawson each scored 10 points and Wood added ninefor the Spartans, who made 52 percent of their shots and held the Wolverines tosub-40-percent shooting.

Michigan’s Zach Novak scored 14 points and Jordan Morgan had 11.

The Spartans held Michigan scoreless for 5-plus minutes, but they were tiedat 2 after making only one shot and turning the ball over four times.

Michigan State started clicking on offense while the Wolverines continued tostruggle, leading 19-9 midway through the first half.

The Spartans made 59 percent of their shots in the first half with eightplayers making a shot.

Michigan, meanwhile, had eight turnovers by halftime—three fewer than itaverages in a game—and shot 39 percent.

The Wolverines tried to get Hardaway going early in the second half, but hemissed four shots in the opening minutes before finally making a shot with 15:26left in the game.

“We were trying to do everything we can,” Beilein said.

Michigan State built a 16-point lead with just under 13 minutes left soonafter the usually composed Beilein was called for a technical foul for arguing acall. A few minutes later, the Spartans’ bench was called for a technical and itwasn’t clear if an assistant coach or the frequently fiery Izzo drew thewhistle.

Michigan State improved to 14-0 at the Breslin Center, which seemed louderthan it has been in years, and the Wolverines still have only one win on anopponent’s home court this season.

“I thought the building had some energy,” Izzo said. “I thought it wasoff the charts.”

Garnett was 9 of 12 from the field, including his third 3-pointer of theseason on three tries. He hit one in Friday’s win over New York.

“He’s shooting it well,” Rivers said, before joking about Garnett’s recent3-point success. “Gives us another option at the end of the game—don’t tellhim that.”

Paul Pierce scored 21 points, moving nine behind Hall of Famer Larry Birdfor second place on the club’s all-time list, and Ray Allen added 12. RajonRondo had 14 assists and reserve Chris Wilcox chipped in with 12 points.

Boston took charge with a 21-7 run early in the fourth quarter that turned asix-point lead to 90-70 on Garnett’s jumper.

Relying on a combination of reserves and two of their usual stars—Garnettand Pierce—the Celtics controlled the glass and outran the Grizzlies fortransition baskets.

“I thought we put together some really good runs and got the ball moving,”Pierce said.

Rudy Gay paced the Grizzlies with 21 points and seven rebounds, and O.J.Mayo scored 15 points for Memphis, which has lost six of eight.

The Celtics led by six points at halftime and pushed it to double digits(53-43) on Pierce’s two free throws midway into the third. Boston relied on somehot long-range shooting in the third quarter, hitting 5 of its first 6 frombehind the 3-point line to keep Memphis from coming back until Gay scored threeconsecutive baskets late in the period.

“The key to the game was that we didn’t get back on defense. They had 26fast break points on us and that was huge, and they controlled the glass,”Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins said. “We turned them over but we couldn’t getthe easy transition buckets. They got back on defense and forced us to play halfcourt, and they did a good job defensively.”

Allen hit three shots from beyond the arc and was fouled on one, hitting thefree throw that made it 62-51. Pierce and Garnett also hit 3s, with Garnett’sbringing a loud ovation from the crowd.

“I can shoot 3s,” Garnett said. “Everyone’s acting like I’m 50 and outhere on one leg. I don’t shoot 3s because we have one of the all-time greatest3-point shooters in the history of the league (Allen), we have Paul Pierce whohas won 3-point contests, we have other guys who can shoot 3. That ain’t my rolehere. My role is to get those guys open and shoot it, dunk it, pass it, whateverto get us going. But, I can shoot 3s.”

The Grizzlies knew they were in trouble.

“They got on a run right before the end of the quarter,” Memphis guardMike Conley said. “Ray Allen hit that corner 3 and we couldn’t recover.”

The Celtics held a 69-61 lead entering the final quarter.

Boston led 43-37 at halftime after the teams traded large second-quarterruns. The Grizzlies opened the period by scoring 16 of the first 19 points, taking a 32-27 lead on Dante Cunningham’s jumper.

After Rivers called time out, his team responded with a 16-2 run—highlighted by a 7-0 spurt that was capped by a 3 by Allen from the left cornerand Jermaine O’Neal coming down the lane for a dunk after a nice feed fromRondo, who had 10 assists in the opening half.

NOTES: Garnett also had 24 points in a New Year’s Day win over Washington.… O’Neal went to the locker room briefly late in the third quarter. …Memphis guard and former Celtic Tony Allen didn’t play because of a sore hip andknee, but he was in uniform on the bench. … Rivers said F Brandon Bass was outwith “swelling of the knee.” Rivers didn’t make it sound like it was serious.“I think it’s an accumulation of a lot of games,” he said. … The gamestarted just after noon. “I don’t like `em,” Rivers said of the earlier start.“I like them on the road. I think it favors the road team. You get on the busand get ready.” … Bird had 21,791 points. Hall of Famer John Havlicek topsthe Celtics’ all-time scoring list with 26,395. … Rondo played his secondstraight game after missing eight with a sore right wrist. He wasn’t wearing abrace like he did in Friday’s win over New York. … Gay came down awkwardlyafter hitting a jumper and limped for a few seconds, but stayed in the game.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP)—Darryl Bryant’s 3-pointer with just over a secondleft in overtime gave West Virginia an 87-84 win over Providence on Sunday.

The two teams exchanged leads throughout the extra period, and Providence’sGerard Coleman made 1 of 2 free throws to tie it at 84-all with 10 seconds left.Bryant then drove down the court and hit the game-winner.

“I just wanted to get the win and get out of here,” Bryant said. “That’sall I was thinking.”

He led the Mountaineers (16-8, 6-5 Big East) with 32 points, Deniz Kilicliadded a career-high 22 and Kevin Jones finished with 20.

Providence (13-11, 2-9) got off to a hot start, making 16 of 18 from thefield. But West Virginia put together a 12-3 run at the end of the first half tomake 42-36 at halftime.

West Virginia trailed 70-63 with 5:29 left in regulation and scored sixstraight, including four by Bryant.

“What you saw today was a perfect example of one team with seniors who havewon going up against a team that is still learning to win,” Providence coach EdCooley said.

After West Virginia tied it at 72-72, Coleman made a short basket to givethe Friars back the lead.

West Virginia then fouled Vincent Council, who made 1 of 2 from the line.Kevin Jones hit a shot for the Mountaineers to make it a one-point game andColeman made a free throw to tie it.

Bryant then made a driving layup to send it to overtime tied at 76.

Providence started the game 14 for 16 from the free-throw line, but in thefinal 3 minutes of regulation it shot only 4 of 8.

“We’re very honest with our guys about where we are and where we stand,”West Virginia coach Bob Huggins said. We needed to win. And we’re fortunate theymissed some free throws.”

Coleman scored 30 points and Council had 16 points and nine assists to leadthe Friars, who lost their eighth straight to West Virginia.
